Autoclave is neither a production company nor a ‘collective of filmmakers’.

It is the joint venture of Cam Stewart and David Goldsmith, a label and brand for our work.

Whether running camera department or seeing assets through to delivery, we specialise in the ‘edge-case’: when creativity risks failing due to technical, logistical or temporal issues, we know what to do.

Cam Stewart

Cam is missing from the majority of photos taken during his childhood - because he took them.

His early interest in photography morphed into a pursuit of the moving image where his earliest efforts operating a handycam landed him his first gig: filming school concerts.

Now working throughout the film and television industry, Cam chaperones camera departments through corporate, content and commercial productions- guided by the belief that an integrated technical solution is key to empowering creativity, particularly in film where most tech hinders it.

Cam is known for his calm, collected demeanour and brings with him an intricate understanding of both the technical and creative fields of film, always working to ensure that the two are seamlessly bound on screen.

David Goldsmith ‘Goldie’

David wasn’t missing from his childhood photos (despite taking many of them) thanks to an early interest in Photoshop.

He worked as a retoucher for a local photographer while studying, a job which taught him many of the most important aspects of guiding visual attention through a frame. Once he had been introduced to the “3-way Colour Corrector” in FCP7 however, he firmly committed to the moving image.

It was Cam that first dragged David out of the post production world and onto set, where a natural tendency to ignore standards had him refuse to be credited with traditional roles- and thus “Goldie” was born.

Now a working colourist and DIT, Goldie strives to minimise technical downtime whilst keeping workflows consistent from set to post.

We believe rates should be fair and transparent, so here they are:

Our rates and terms are reviewed yearly following consultation with industry bodies such as the Australian Camera Department, Freelancers, Screen Producers Association, the MEAA and of course, our clients.
